National Guard Helicopters to Land on Campus

Three or four Massachusetts Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters will land on the athletic field at Massachusetts and Commonwealth avenues Friday, April 20 at 10 a.m. as part of an Army ROTC training exercise.

UMass Amherst Army ROTC cadets (CDTs) will be conducting their final spring Combined Leader Training Exercise (CLTX) over the weekend at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. 

The CDTs will be picked up by the Black Hawks, which will land and shut down, doing what is called a “cold load” prior to departure.

Approximately 40 CDTs will be flying. The aircraft will be on the ground for an hour.

All activity is weather-dependent.
