High school students from Four Rivers Charter Public School in Greenfield will show and discuss their film “Blades of Change” on Thursday, March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Gunness Student Center conference room in Marcus Hall.

“Blades of Change” is about why the Block Island offshore wind farm succeeded while the Cape Wind project failed, and what the future is for offshore wind power in Massachusetts.

In making the film, students interviewed people from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Department of Energy Resources and the statehouse; as well as executives at the Block Island wind farm developer, Deepwater Wind; representatives of the Rhode Island Department of Energy; and some of the players in the Cape Wind project. They also interviewed several doctoral students in the Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) program on campus.

The program, which includes the movie and students talking about how they made it, lasts about an hour. It is free to the public.

The move is presented by the Wind Energy Center in the department of mechanical and industrial engineering.
