Mireya “Carolina” Cudemus, a design and construction management professional with Gilbane Building Company, has joined Facilities and Campus Services as director of design and construction management.

Cudemus has more than 20 years of experience in complex private and public commercial construction projects, including health care, higher education and K-12 schools.

“I’m honored and excited to join the extremely professional and experienced Design and Construction Management team at UMass and I’m looking forward to contribute to the next phase of capital activity, and I’m eager to bring my collaborative management approach to all phases of design and construction at UMass Amherst,” Cudemus said.

Shane Conklin, associate vice chancellor for Facilities and Campus Services, said, “Carolina brings a wealth of construction industry experience to our campus, and we’re looking forward to working with her to continuously improve our delivery of design and construction services.”

Cudemus holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and a master’s in business administration. She is a certified Design Build Institute of America associate, a 2016 American Arbitration Association Higginbotham Fellow and was recognized by the Connecticut Association of General Contractors as the 2016 Project Manager of the Year.

Cudemus serves on the board of directors of the Construction Institute and is active with the Connecticut Professional Women in Construction.
