Migration of Blogs at UMass Amherst
UMass Amherst IT has announced preparations to migrate Blogs at UMass Amherst WordPress sites to a new hosting environment in January 2024. This migration is a crucial step in ensuring long-term reliability and performance, as well as enhanced features for the WordPress service.
Key points to know:
- Current UMass Amherst WordPress blogs will remain available throughout the migration period. There will, however, be a mandatory content editing freeze starting Jan. 11 while the migration takes place.
- If possible, content updates that are required for the Spring 2024 semester should be made prior to Jan. 11 when the migration to the new hosting environment will commence. It is anticipated that the blogs will be available for editing in the new hosting environment by Jan. 29.
- In preparation for the migration, the self-service auto-provisioner for requesting new UMass WordPress blogs has been turned off. The ability to request a new WordPress site will re-launch in January 2024 when the migration is complete, and service is available in the new hosting environment.
