In Memoriam: Jamison Page Burnside

Jamison Page Burnside, former assistant director of communication access in Disability Services, died Sept. 17.

Burnside, who served the deaf and hard of hearing community at UMass Amherst for more than 30 years, retired in January.

“Jamison worked tirelessly educating instructors and staff about the experiences of the deaf, throughout her long history providing communication access at UMass,” says AnnMarie Thorpe, director of Disability Services. “She was an intrepid educator and a prolific interpreter.”
