Memorial Service for Former Education Dean Dwight Allen to be Livestreamed on Sunday

Dwight W. Allen, former dean of the College of Education (1968-1975), died on Oct. 16. He was 90. His family is inviting Allen’s former colleagues and friends to join a livestream of the memorial service on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 12 p.m. EST. Prayers, readings, and remembrances will be offered to celebrate Allen’s life.

While a professor from 1962-1978, Allen innovated several educational practices that still shape the field today, including microteaching. Throughout his career Allen traveled the globe as an educational consultant and continually advocated for educational reform. In 2001, the Dwight W. Allen Professorship of Educational Policy and Reform was established, becoming the first endowed distinguished professorship in the School of Education.
