Mandy Carter Talk: Possible Models of How to Build Intersectional Resistance Alliances

As part of the Resistance Studies Initiative’s Fall Speaker Series, Mandy Carter, resistance studies fellow will deliver a talk, “Possible Models of How to Build Intersectional Resistance Alliance,” on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. in the Integrated Science Building, room 145.

Carter has been social, racial, and LGBTQ+ justice organizing since 1967. Raised in two orphanages and a foster home as a ward of state of New York, Carter attributes the influences of the Quaker based American Friends Service Committee, the former Institute for the Study of Nonviolence, and the pacifist-based War Resisters League for her sustained intentional multi-racial and multi-issues organizing.

In this talk she will address collaborations between activists from communities of color, gender, class, religion and sexuality.

Carter will present and discuss possible models developed this fall by a group of diverse activists on how alliances between different identity groups can work.
