NEWS Your Voice Your UMass

UMass employs several ongoing methods to collect data on our progress in the work towards a more equitable and inclusive campus. Through surveys, observations, focus groups, and more, we are constantly assessing our progress towards inclusive excellence. However, the campus climate survey is unique in its scale and scope. We will survey our entire campus population!

We conduct the Campus Climate Survey every several years to assess whether our values are reflected in the daily experience of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. In 2016, the first time the Campus Climate Survey was conducted, we had over 40% of our campus community respond, which is unprecedented in endeavors of this kind in colleges and universities. This, and the hard work of activism and engagement we see every day on campus, are strong indicators of just how dedicated our campus community is in making progress at UMass and holding us accountable for continuous improvement towards inclusive excellence.

In order to keep this momentum going, please exercise your voice by participating in this short survey. Your participation is essential to the university’s strategies towards a more respectful campus climate.

You can learn more about the 2021 Campus Climate Survey and the results of the 2016 survey at umass.edu/campusclimate. I encourage you to seek out Chancellor Subbaswamy’s email with your personalized survey link on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd and have your voice be heard.

Your Voice. Your UMass.
Be Heard.

Sincerely,
Nefertiti A. Walker, Ph.D.
