Lyiscott Lauded by American Educational Research Association

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) has named Jamila Lyiscott, assistant professor of social justice education, as one of the winners of its 2019 awards for excellence in education research.

Lyiscott is the recipient of the “Outstanding Public Communication of Education Research” award, which recognizes “collaborative project(s) between researchers and practitioners that have had sustained and observable effects on contexts of practice.”

She is also the recipient of AERA's 2019 Scholar-Activist and Community Advocacy Award for the Critical Educators for Social Justice (CESJ) Special Interest Group (SIG).

AERA will honor the recipients for their outstanding scholarship and service at the Awards Ceremony and Celebration, April 7, at the AERA Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada.

“This year’s award winners exemplify commitment to the study and practice of education,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “We are proud to honor their outstanding scholarship and service to the field.”
