LaBranche Receives Professional Improvement Fellowship
The Office of the Provost has awarded Judi LaBranche, senior lecturer in the department of kinesiology, a Professional Improvement Fellowship for the spring 2019 semester. She is among the first cohort of six individuals to receive the fellowship, which relieves senior lecturers of teaching and service duties for the semester to allow them to focus on professional development activities.
“I plan to use this fellowship to revise KIN 394IE, an integrative experience course, and establish a sustainable community event in affiliation with it,” LaBranche says. “I also plan to create a web-based lab manual for the course that also can be widely disseminated and obtain additional professional training to remain current with emerging concepts in the field.”
“It’s great to see Judi recognized for her outstanding contributions to the department and campus,”says Jane Kent, professor and chair of the department. “We are fortunate to have her on our faculty.”
“These activities will allow me to foster deeper learning in the students, and build a community event for students to showcase their skill and enrich community relations,” LaBranche says. “Ultimately, these activities will greatly impact both my development as a senior lecturer and my students’ experience.”
