K.C. Nat Turner Named 2022-23 Leadership Fellow for the College of Education

K.C. Nat Turner will serve as 2022-23 Leadership Fellow in the College of Education at UMass Amherst.

Turner, a professor in the language, literacy and culture program, will lead a dynamic mindfulness/contemplative pedagogy initiative within the College of Education linked to university- and system-wide initiatives around health and well-being. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in mindfulness and contemplative pedagogy to this role.

Turner's specific expertise in supporting student learning through the incorporation of practices that encourage reflection, attention, stress reduction, and deepened awareness will be particularly helpful to the college in the upcoming year. As part of his role, Professor Turner will also contribute to conversations around the college’s curricular and co-curricular events for students and will help train first-year seminar instructors to incorporate mindfulness and contemplative pedagogy practices into their teaching practice.
