In its 38th year, the annual Jazz in July Summer Music Program runs July 8 through July 19. During the program, Jazz in July faculty spend two weeks working with students to hone their skills as musicians. This intensive workshop examines the technique, history and culture of jazz.

Each Thursday of the program will feature an All Stars faculty performance. On Thursday, July 11, the All Stars performance features vocalist Sheila Jordan, bassist Avery Sharpe and pianist Earl MacDonald. Pianist Luis Perdomo, Jason Palmer and saxophonist Felipe Salles will give their All Stars performance on Thursday, July 18. Both performances will be held in the Bezanson Recital Hall.

Tickets for the Jazz in July All Star concerts are $20 general public; $15 students and seniors. Tickets are available in advance at the FAC box office, 413-545-2511 or 1-800-999-UMAS, and at the door on the evening of the show (cash only at the door).

Student performances are open to the public. Club Jazz will be held on Wednesday, July 10 and 17 at 7 P.M. In Club Jazz, student combos and vocalists will perform in a relaxed, club environment. This event takes place in the Marriott Center, 11th floor of the Campus Center. There will be light refreshments and cash bar.

On Friday July 12 and 21, students will give full-day concerts as part of the Jazz Futures series from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Bezanson Recital Hall.
