Isenberg Professors Milne and Skaggs Honored with Endowed Faculty Roles

Isenberg professors George Milne and Bruce Skaggs are the recipients of endowed faculty positions created by the Flavin and Carney families.

Carney Family Endowed Professor George Milne is Isenberg’s associate dean of research and directs its doctoral program. Named associate dean in July 2018, Milne elevates the school’s national research profile through encouragement of excellence in research and dissemination of faculty accomplishments.

Milne’s research interests include information privacy and exchange, internet marketing, social media, healthcare marketing and marketing and public policy. His papers have appeared in the “Journal of Consumer Marketing,” “Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science,” “Journal of Public Policy, Marketing Public Policy” and other leading publications. He joined Isenberg’s faculty in 1992.

The Carney professorship is the gift of Isenberg graduate Paul Carney and his family.

Flavin Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies Bruce Skaggs heads Isenberg’s department of management and is academic coordinator for Isenberg’s Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship. His research explores knowledge creation and coordination, competitive advantage, service sector strategy and innovation. In 2018, he was one of two Isenberg professors honored with the school’s Research Excellence Award, which recognizes published articles in top journals. His research has appeared in the “Academy of Management Journal,” the “Journal of International Management, Organizational Behavior” and other leading journals.

Skaggs has been his department’s chair since 2013, after joining Isenberg in 2004. In 2011, he earned the College Outstanding Teaching Award.

Formerly held by James Theroux, the Flavin chair honors brothers and Isenberg graduates John and Joseph Flavin.
