Honors College and Residential Life Seeking Applicants for Faculty in Residence
The Commonwealth Honors College (CHC) and the Department of Residential Life are seeking current or retired faculty members to serve as a positive and visible CHC Faculty in Residence mentors to undergraduate students living in the CHC Residential Community for the 2025-26 academic year.
The position is open to UMass Amherst tenured full-time faculty or full-time lecturers holding appointments covering the period of the 9 ½-month-long FiR appointment. Retired UMass Amherst faculty members may also apply.
Residential Life, CHC, Student Affairs and Campus Life, and leaders in undergraduate Academic Affairs value the Faculty in Residence program as a well-defined, learning centered initiative that augments classroom instruction, promotes student interaction with faculty, and helps establish the celebration of learning as a cornerstone of the undergraduate honors residential experience.
FiRs facilitate student intellectual development and provide support to students in achieving their academic goals within the CHC Residential Community.
