The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has named hockey head coach Greg Carvel the 2019 Spencer Penrose Award winner, annually given to the CCM/AHCA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year.

Under Carvel’s direction, the Minutemen hockey team advanced to their first Frozen Four in program history, facing West Regional Champion Denver in the national semifinals at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York on Thursday, April 11, at 8:30 p.m. The Minutemen finished their Hockey East slate with a 18-6-0 record to capture the school's first Hockey East Regular Season Championship and sit at 30-9-0 overall after surpassing the program's previous wins record of 21 from 2006-07.

The Frozen Four game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and watch parties on campus, across the Commonwealth and around the country have been scheduled to watch the Minutemen play for a chance at their first national championship.
