Hescock Appointed EH&S Executive Director
Jeffrey Hescock has been appointed executive director of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Emergency Management. He has held the position on an interim basis since June 2017.
Andrew Mangels, vice chancellor for Administration and Finance, said, “Jeff brings over eight years of experience at UMass, both on campus and with the system office, to the position. He will be responsible for environmental health and safety programs on the campus as well as managing the emergency management program. He will also continue to provide system-wide leadership and coordination for emergency and enterprise risk management among the five campuses.”
Hescock was appointed director of emergency management and business continuity on campus in 2013. Previously, he had served as emergency management and business continuity manager for the President’s Office beginning in 2010.
He began his career at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), first as a regional planner and then as a government preparedness manager. Prior to joining UMass, he was a senior consultant at Science Application International Corp., focusing on emergency management and health and safety.
Hescock holds a master of regional planning degree from the University at Albany in New York and a B.S. from Westfield State College.
He took the interim position of executive director upon the retirement of Don Robinson.
