Herter Art Gallery Celebrates 50th Year with Alumni Art
The Herter Art Gallery is celebrating its 50th year with a juried exhibition of recent work by MFA alumni from the department of art. This open call was juried by Laylah Ali, contemporary artist and the Francis Christopher Oakley Third Century Professor of Art at Williams College; Emma Chubb, the inaugural Charlotte Feng Ford ’83 Curator of Contemporary Art at the Smith College Museum of Art; and Ajay Sinha, professor and chair of art history at Mount Holyoke College. The artists in this exhibition are Nour Bishouty ‘14, Rebecca Graves ‘90, Priya Nadkarni Green ‘14, Karen Gustafson ‘96, Kelli Scott Kelley ‘86, Eben Kling ‘15, Ron-Wontae Kim ‘92, Christy Patrick ‘05, Vic Quezada ’18, Marcia Reed ‘86, Renee Richard ‘86, Chelsea Sams ‘16, d'Ann de Simone ‘84, Jenny Tibbetts ‘98 and Amanda Tiller ‘07.
As part of the opening event on Thursday, March 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., there will be a panel discussion with the artists which will be moderated by department chair, professor Shona Macdonald, and graduate program director, Young Min Moon. There will be a reception to celebrate the artists following the panel.
