Gill Named Provost at University of the Ozarks

Alyson A. Gill, associate provost for instructional innovation and associate professor of art history, has been named provost at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas.

As the chief academic officer at Ozarks, Gill will oversee all academic functions of the university, including the four divisions, the Jones Learning Center and Student Support Services. She will also provide senior leadership in the areas of accreditation and assessment. She begins her new duties Feb. 1.

Gill joined UMass Amherst in January 2015, accepting a newly created position, requested as part of the campus’ strategic planning process, to lead instructional innovation. She previously served 15 years as an instructor and professor of art history at Arkansas State University, where she was founding director for the Center for Digital Initiatives.

Gill’s field of expertise is Greek art and architecture. She holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Memphis, an M.A. in art history from the University of California, Irvine, and a B.A. in psychology from Trinity University.
