Written specifically for parents, caregivers, and family members involved with child care, Fefer’s volume outlines strategies for preventing challenging behaviors before they occur using a process called positive behavior support (PBS). The book is intended to be accessible to non-experts and to present culturally sensitive, evidence-based guidance for making decisions in any given situation.

An excerpt from the book explains that “this book provides the guidance you need to strengthen the desired behavior in your household and improve your quality of life.”

Fefer, a board-certified behavior analyst, introduced the concepts in her book at the Association of Positive Behavior Support (IAPBS) Annual Conference in April, where she facilitated a workshop for practitioners in the field.

“Helping Your Family Thrive” honors Fefer's late mentor and co-author Meme Hieneman, a well-known consultant and researcher in the field of applied behavior analysis.
