Ela Gezen Recognized as Outstanding German Educator by AATG

Ela Gezen, associate professor of German studies, has been selected as the 2021 Post-Secondary Outstanding German Educator of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).

The AATG’s highest honor, this prestigious award is given annually in recognition of innovative teaching, extraordinary talent and exceptional leadership in the German teaching profession (to an elementary, middle school or junior high school educator, a high school educator, and a post-secondary educator).

“This year’s Outstanding German Educator recipients represent the best in our profession,” said Jennifer Roper, chair of the awards committee. “It is inspiring to see how much these extraordinary German teachers have accomplished—and how their students and our profession have benefitted from their work.”

The AATG will recognize German teachers and programs for their outstanding contributions to the teaching and learning of German at a virtual awards presentation to be held on Nov. 20.
