Education’s Keisha Green Hosts 2025 ELATE Summer Conference

Keisha Green, associate professor of teacher education and school improvement and chair of English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE), recently hosted the 2025 ELATE Summer Conference at the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
ELATE is the professional home for members of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) who educate and support English language arts teachers, research issues of ELA education, and advocate for student-centered, culturally sustaining, and justice-oriented learning.
Green chaired the conference, which was held July 10-13 and was titled “Legacies of African American Pedagogical Excellence and Future-Making in Teacher Education.” It featured programming centered around the theme “What are our legacies as English educators, and how do they connect to African American academic excellence?,” and speakers discussed topics including leadership, African American pedagogy and digital equity.
Green provided the opening remarks, as well as a conversation on “Culturally Responsive Educational Public Television.”
More information about the conference can be found on the ELATE website.
