Digital Equity and Inclusion Week Starts Monday, Feb. 13
UMass Amherst Information Technology and campus partners are hosting the second annual Digital Equity and Inclusion Week. Between Feb. 13 and 17, members of the campus community have a wide range of opportunities to explore the role of digital accessibility in teaching, learning, living and working at UMass Amherst.
How can we make UMass Amherst a more digitally inclusive campus? Learn concrete steps you can take to enhance equity and inclusion through technology. This year, we will focus on learning together and taking collective action:
- Learn, discuss and participate:
- Attend a virtual panel on accessibility and technology with experts from other institutions.
- Learn more about employee resource groups, such as UMass Allies for Illness and Disability Access (UMAIDA) Network, and other campus resources.
- Browse our recommended readings and join a book discussion.
- Take action: get the tools and resources to make more accessible choices when using technologies available to you.
- Participate in a hands-on workshop on universal learning design, creating accessible podcasts, or creating inclusive course content using learning management systems.
- Get training on how to create accessible web content or how to use accessibility features of common productivity suites like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
- Become an ally: learn the stories of your friends, colleagues, or students and identify ways in which you can make a difference.
