Damon J. Vidrine, an expert on mobile health smoking cessation interventions for people living with HIV/AIDS, will deliver a free public lecture on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. in 160E Events Hall Commonwealth Honors College.

Vidrine is a program leader for the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma and director of intervention research for the Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center.

Vidrine will give a brief overview of the adverse health effects associated with cigarette smoking among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH).

He will provide examples (ranging from early phase pilots to multi-site randomized controlled trials) from his research program, which focuses on developing, evaluating and implementing mobile treatments for PLWH and other socioeconomically disadvantaged populations.

CRF is an endowed interdisciplinary research center in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and College of Natural Sciences. The Tay Gavin Erickson Lecture Series brings internationally recognized speakers with expertise in family research to campus each year. The lecture series began in 1999 through an endowment established in memory of Tay Gavin Erickson.
