The Conversation Training Session Rescheduled to March 21

A presentation and training session by staff of The Conversation, originally set for March 7, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 21 at noon in the Hadley Room of the Campus Center.

The speakers will be Ari Fertig, manager of university editorial relations, and Maggie Villiger, senior science and technology editor at The Conversation. They will discuss why academics should write for the general public, how academics can learn to pitch to media outlets, and the benefits of reaching a wide audience through The Conversation model.

UMass Amherst is a founding partner of The Conversation and campus scholars have been republished in outlets such as Newsweek, Business Insider, Quartz, Fast Company, Huffington Post, Salon, U.S. News and World Report and Time.

Light refreshments will be provided at the session, which is sponsored by the Public Engagement Project.
