Co-Founder of the International Feminist Collective to Discuss Feminism and the Nature of Capitalism on April 4

Activist, scholar and writer Silvia Federici will deliver a talk titled “Re-Enchanting the World: Feminism and the Politics of the Commons,” April 4 at 5 p.m. in the Bernie Dallas Room of Goodell Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Federici is an Italian-American scholar, teacher and activist from the radical autonomist feminist Marxist tradition. One of the most important contemporary theorists of capitalism and feminist movements, she is the co-founder of the International Feminist Collective and the Committee for Academic Freedom in Africa, and the organizer of the International Wages for Housework Campaign.

She has written several influential works including “Caliban and the Witch” and “Revolution at Point Zero: Housework, Reproduction and Feminist Struggle.”  Professor Emerita at Hofstra University, she has recently published “Witches, Witch-Hunting and Women and Re-Enchanting the World: Feminism and the Politics of the Commons.”
