Standard Time returns to the United States at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, which means all clocks must be set back one hour as Daylight Saving Time ends.

The extra hour of morning rest on Sunday is a sign of reduced daylight in the days and weeks ahead.

Daylight Saving Time, which was tried in the United States for several months at the end of World War I, returned for good in 1942 during World War II. It came under nationally uniform rules in 1966.

Arizona and Hawaii are the only states that do not use Daylight Saving Time.

In all other states, the clock changes twice a year: on the first Sunday in November and the second Sunday in March.

Standard Time will end, Daylight Saving Time will return, and clocks will spring forward at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10.
