CICS to Recognize Recipients of 2023 Outstanding Achievement and Advocacy Awards

On Friday, March 31, the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) will honor the recipients of its 2023 Outstanding Achievement and Advocacy (OAA) awards.

Now in its fourteenth year, the OAA awards program celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of selected alumni and community members. The awardees will be honored at a banquet and ceremony, beginning with a 5 p.m. reception in the UMass Amherst Old Chapel.

“This year's OAA awardees represent an impressive cross-section of what can be accomplished with a computing degree, from health care to intelligent systems to information retrieval,” says CICS dean Laura Haas. “I'm extraordinarily proud of the important work our graduates are doing out in the world and pleased to welcome them back to campus to receive their awards.”

For outstanding achievement in information retrieval at an early stage of his career

Jeff Dalton '14Ph.D.

Associate professor, University of Glasgow
