Chancellor’s Citation Awards Nominations Now Open
The 2021 selection committee invites nominations from the university community for the Chancellor’s Citation Award for outstanding achievement. Nominations of staff in recognition of their contribution to the campus community in both 2019 and/or 2020 are being accepted, given the unprecedented circumstances of the last year. This award recognizes outstanding achievement, including innovative or creative solutions and projects that advance the university’s mission, performance above and beyond the scope of one’s position or demonstrated exceptional contributions to the university’s goals and objectives or operational efficacy.
Up to ten Individual Staff Awards and up to two Team Awards will be bestowed this year. Please see the nomination criteria below.
Nomination Criteria
- Nominated individual employees or nominated employee teams should have demonstrated exemplary and outstanding service to the University as outlined above.
- Please provide explicit examples of how the nominated individual or team has demonstrated one or more of these criteria.
- Nominated individuals should be either a GIC benefit-eligible exempt or non-exempt staff (01) member in active employment status and working at least 50% time.
- Nominated teams should be well established over the course of the past year or longer and may be comprised of GIC benefit-eligible exempt or non-exempt staff (01) members in active employment status and working at least 50% time.
- The size of a team that may be nominated for the Chancellor’s Citation Award should ideally be between two to six eligible employees.
- Nominated employees or employee team members should neither have received nor be scheduled to receive a cash award under any similar employee recognition program within the past year.
- Please note that faculty and librarians are not eligible for this award as they have their own recognition program.
All nominations must be signed and the nominator’s relationship to the employee or team/team members must be clearly specified. Please submit your nomination form electronically to Lauren O’Boyle, employee engagement coordinator in the Office of Human Resources at loboyle@umass.edu, or deliver in person to the Human Resources Employee Service Center, room 325 Whitmore Administration Building.
