Center for Education Policy to Host Civic Summit about MCAS Graduation Requirements on March 12
The College of Education Center for Education Policy will host a Civic Summit examining whether Massachusetts should eliminate the MCAS graduation requirement for high school students at 5 p.m. on March 12.
The summit, which will take place in the Carney Family Auditorium at the UMass College of Education, will bring together experts, educators and concerned citizens, and will be organized in the style of a deliberative poll – attendees will “vote” on the measure before and after learning more about it. The Center for Education Policy will then use the information garnered from the event to help inform other voters in the commonwealth.
The College of Education is located in Furcolo Hall, 813 North Pleasant Street in Amherst. Parking is available in Lots 66 and 27.
Space is limited and the event’s organizers ask attendees to please plan on arriving between 4:45-5 p.m., as the event will begin promptly at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be available starting at 4:30 p.m.
More information about the Civic Summit can be found at the Center for Education Policy site.
