In celebration of Public Health Month, UMass Amherst Co-sponsors Community Forum on Health Equity and Human Development Research

                  Sponsored by UMass Amherst and the City of Springfield’s Dept. of Health and Human Services

The public is invited to this free community forum in celebration of Public Health Month, which will feature presentations about public health and human development research projects being conducted in Springfield.

Presentations will focus on research involving Men of Color Health Awareness (MOCHA) and Gambling in Mass.: At-risk Populations and Public Health.

In addition, UMass Amherst at Springfield’s Healthy Development Initiative will give a demonstration of its near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) brain monitor and discuss other research and outreach projects in the community.

Other UMass Amherst researchers will outline their Food, Activity, Screens and Teens (FAST) study, taking place in the Springfield public schools, whose goal is to help understand patterns of weight-related behaviors and health outcomes across diverse groups of students.

Light refreshments will be served.
