The Resistance Studies Initiative fall speaker series will feature a talk from Mandy Carter, “Why Are Intersectional Resistance Alliances So Difficult to Build? Examples from Our LGBTQ+ Movement,” on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Integrated Science Building, room 145.

The talk is intended to initiate a new project on intersectional resistance alliances. Carter, who leads the project, will share why she believes it is both timely and critical that intersectional alliances among resistance movements be formed. She will address what it means to be an authentic “ally” and how to form just and equal alliances to make united demands.

Carter is a resistance studies fellow at the Resistance Studies Initiative and a southern black lesbian activist with a 52-year history of organizing social, racial, and LGBTQ+ movements.
