Call for Nominations: Chancellor’s Leadership Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for two new awards established to celebrate the outstanding contributions that members of the campus community are making to advance diversity, equity and inclusion at UMass Amherst.
The Chancellor’s Emerging Leader Award is open to any current full-time student (graduate or undergraduate), postdoc, faculty or staff member with less than 10 years of service at UMass Amherst who has a proven record of leading initiatives that facilitate change to improve the experiences of marginalized and underrepresented groups on campus.
The Chancellor’s Transformational Leadership Award is open to any full-time faculty, staff member or administrator who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion on campus over a sustained period of time during their tenure.
Award recipients will be honored with a $1,500 prize and a plaque of recognition that will be presented at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Brunch on Jan. 16, 2024.
Nominations will be accepted from any full-time UMass employee or student and will be evaluated by a cross-campus selection committee.
The nomination deadline is Nov. 24. More information about the awards and nomination criteria is available from the Office of Equity and Inclusion. Questions about the awards can be directed to Ebru Kardan, senior director of diversity communications and events, at [email protected] or Cas Rego-Martin, engagement coordinator, at [email protected].
