Brousseau-Pereira and Ferreira Named UMACC Co-chairs
AMHERST, Mass. - Jackie Brousseau-Pereira, assistant dean and director of first-year seminars, in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Sid Ferreira, special assistant to the vice chancellor for student affairs and campus life, have joined the UMass Amherst Community Campaign (UMACC) leadership team, committing to serve a two-year term as co-chairs.
Brousseau-Pereira is a current board member and previous board president for Community Action Pioneer Valley, while Ferreira served as co-residence director for the ABC House for five years. Both bring a wealth of direct nonprofit experience to the role. “Our new co-chairs’ vision and unique experience will be immensely helpful towards bringing UMACC to the next level”, said Jen Gallant, UMACC manager. “The pandemic has changed everything in ways we are not even yet aware. The university and UMACC will benefit from the unique perspective, vision and positivity that both Brousseau-Pereira and Ferriera bring to the co-chair position.”
UMACC is a benefit for faculty, staff and retirees, offering the opportunity to donate to nonprofits through payroll deduction, by check or by credit card. Last year’s campaign raised a record-high $484,000 with 67% slated for nonprofits in the four Western Massachusetts counties. The 2022-23 campaign goal is $460,000.
This year’s campaign will kick off Wednesday, Oct. 12 with a launch party and nonprofit fair. The event is open to the public and will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. outdoors on the Student Union North Lawn. There will be up to 30 nonprofits at the fair as well as food. Local shelters will bring dogs for all to enjoy.
