BeWell@UMass for Staff and Faculty Website Launched
The human resources department has announced the launch of a new resource in support of the health and wellbeing of UMass Amherst employees. BeWell@UMass for Staff and Faculty is a centralized website where faculty and staff can learn about the many wellbeing offerings available at the university. The site focuses on many different components of wellbeing – work-life concerns, personal wellbeing and creating a healthy work environment.
The website was developed through the collaborative efforts of the Office of Workplace Learning and Development, Office of Faculty Development and the Employee Counseling and Consultation Office (ECCO), which was formerly known as the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP).
The services offered by the ECCO office will remain the same -- focusing on short-term counseling, referrals, and consultations. ECCO offers easy access to trained professionals which is so important at this time when mental health difficulties are on the rise and mental health resources are scarce.
It is a free and confidential service that can be a great place to talk through short-term issues, as well as a great first stop for larger difficulties. Staff and faculty use this counseling office to talk through both work-related issues and personal challenges such as relationship and family concerns, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, or any other personal or mental health concern. We are hoping the name change will help more employees connect with this important service.
