Author Rosenberg to Read at Visiting Writers Series
Jordy Rosenberg, associate professor of English, will deliver a free public reading on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. in Old Chapel as part of the MFA for Poets and Writers' Visiting Writer Series.
Rosenberg is author of “Confessions of the Fox,” a novel the Paris Review describes as “[reimagining] Jack Sheppard—notorious English jailbreaker of the early eighteenth century—as a trans man.”
“Confessions of the Fox” has been described by The New York Times as “a mind-bending romp through a gender-fluid, 18th-century London,” named a New York Times Editor's Choice selection, shortlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, and recognized by The New Yorker, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Kirkus Reviews, and other publications as one of the best books of 2018.
Celebrating its fifty-fourth year, the nationally renowned Visiting Writers Series presents emerging and established writers of poetry, fiction and nonfiction. The series is co-sponsored by the MFA for Poets and Writers, the Juniper Initiative, The Stonewall Center and The Amherst College Queer Resource Center. This reading is further made possible by support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the University of Massachusetts Arts Council and the English Department.
