APLU Showcases UMass Amherst's Efforts to Support Transfer Student Success

UMass Amherst has been featured in a showcase by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), praising the university’s efforts to support transfer student success.

The vet tech program at the UMass Amherst Mount Ida campus is cited as an outstanding example of how public universities have supported transfer students. The write up on UMass Amherst describes how the university supported the nearly 130 students in the vet tech program at Mount Ida College, when it acquired the campus in 2018, but creating its own vet tech program and degree.

The APLU places special emphasis on the following areas when consider member campus’s transfer student support efforts:

  • Diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Community College Partnerships;
  • Curriculum Design;
  • Degree Completion; and
  • Military/Veterans.
