Anna Nagurney Delivers Keynote Talk at IFORS Conference in Santiago, Chile

Anna Nagurney, the Eugene M. Isenberg Chair in Integrative Studies at the Isenberg School of Management, delivered a keynote talk at the 23rd International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) conference on July 13 in Santiago, Chile.

In her presentation, “Agricultural Supply Chain Networks; from Trade to Resilience and How O.R. Can Help,” Nagurney acknowledged the partnership between UMass Amherst and the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) in Ukraine. She discussed some of the recently published work with Isenberg School of Management doctoral student Dana Hassani and KSE collaborators Oleg Nivievskyi and Pavlo Martyshev on the impacts of the war in Ukraine on food insecurity and the importance of alternative, efficient trade routes, as well as the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

IFORS is composed of more than 50 national operational research societies. The conference, which is held every three years, brings together academia, practitioners and experts in the field of management science. It featured over 700 presentations and welcomed more than 900 attendees.
