2023 UMass Flex Summit Puts Special Focus on Role of Staff in Flexible Education
Staff members from across the UMass Amherst campus participated in the 2023 UMass Flex Summit: Beyond the Classroom on April 11, which put a special focus on the role of staff in flexible education.
Students today are seeking both excellence in their university experience and true flexibility in accessing educational opportunities. This year's summit focused on:
- Sharing campus experiences around flexible learning and flexible engagement
- Celebrating staff successes in providing flexible access to students
- Learning from successful models at other institutions
- Understanding the student perspective through digital storytelling
“This summit is an important step in understanding the possibilities for flexible learning and access at UMass,” says John Wells, senior vice provost for lifelong learning, professor of operations management and co-chair of the Flexible Learning Implementation Committee.
Staff members who attended heard from experts on innovation happening on campus and beyond and walked away with an understanding of how to access resources. The keynote address was delivered by Jared Tippets, vice president for student affairs at Southern Utah University.
