2018 Homecoming Weekend Events Scheduled Nov. 1-4
Note: Because of expected inclememnt weather on Saturday, Nov. 3, the 2018 Homecoming Parade has been canceled.
The UMass Amherst campus will mark Homecoming Weekend Nov. 1-4 with fun activities, great food, music and lots of UMass pride for every alum, student and friend of the university.
New this year: The Homecoming Block Party. Register online to join the fun both outdoors (live music on Goodell Lawn, tasty eats from UMass Dining food trucks, bounce houses and do-it-yourself craft stations) and indoors (venture into the renovated Old Chapel and South College to take in the sights and sample local wine, beer and spirits with live entertainment from student groups).
Get your maroon and white on as events kick off Thursday, Nov. 1 with Spirit on the Concourse, providing giveaways, games and more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Campus Center Concourse.
On Saturday, catch the Homecoming Parade (you can watch from campus or downtown Amherst). Marchers and floats led by Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy step off from Haigis Mall at 10:30 a.m. The route takes Massachusetts Avenue to North Pleasant Street downtown, then turns onto Amity Street and along University Drive to finish up in front of McGuirk Alumni Stadium.
Be at the stadium Saturday afternoon for Minuteman Football vs. the Liberty University Flames and see the Homecoming Court crowned. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
Other weekend highlights include the Revolution Run Homecoming 5K race, UMass Amherst Symphony Orchestra Homecoming Concert, the Black Student Union Poetry Jam and the 40th Anniversary Concert with the UMass Chamber Choir.
