‘Breathing While Black’ Gallery on View Online

The online gallery, “Breathing While Black,” was launched on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and will be available through Friday, Nov. 20.

Featuring around 100 works by over 50 artists from 17 countries who responded to Augusta Savage Gallery’s call for entries earlier this summer, “Breathing While Black” represents an international response to the recent and ongoing killing of Black Americans.

Some works are abstracted emotional responses, while others are in the style of hyper-realism. Some reference historical events while some are futuristic and mythical. There are cautionary tales told through the camera lens, ideological symbolism, and use of digital tools to create outrage.
