Malav Trivedi dedicates life to child advocacy and support

Malav Trivedi ’22, University Without Walls, applied psychology, is the winner of the 2021 Jack M. Wilson Presidential Scholarship awarded by the UMass President’s Office. A father of two, Trivedi has dedicated his life to fighting for children, starting as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and now as a full-time case supervisor for his county’s CASA program. Growing up in the deep South in a poor immigrant family, Trivedi says he understands the hardship and racism many families in his county still face, and hopes his efforts will have a longstanding, positive effect. “My long-term goals are to take my experiences with the child welfare system to the state and possibly the federal levels,” he says, “and to enact legislative and policy changes.”
