Agenda
12pm-12:30pm Connection, Food
12:30-1:30pm Presentation
1:30pm-2pm Closing Conversation
As LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating a cisheteronormative world, it is too often rare to feel deeply welcomed, seen, and valued as our full selves. Our isolation may feel compounded by a lack of community connection and spaces to build relationships around shared experience, especially for folks still exploring the contours of their own Queer identity. In this session, we will approach ‘professional development’ through an explicitly Queer lens, exploring the existing cultural norms that limit our wholeness and authenticity, while also imagining new paths to inclusion and belonging that intentionally uplift and honor Queer identities, cultures, and futures.
This event is designed for ALL UMass Amherst employees who identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, including those who are newer to this type of affinity space and those who occupy additional marginalized identities and experiences. If you have ever wondered whether you’re ‘X’ enough to “count”, please know that you are especially welcome and wanted in this conversation!
Session will also be offered via Zoom and presentation will be recorded.
Sponsored by the UMass LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group.
