"As an engineering student, I have spent countless hours immersed in textbooks, laboratory experiments, and design projects. As a computer engineer I’ve tackled complex problems, overcome daunting challenges, and pushed ourselves to our limits all while completing labs, assignments, and giving so so many exams. I came here from halfway across the world with no idea about what to expect but after 4 years here, all my expectations have been exceeded. A very large part of my life at UMass was Engineers without Borders, from picking up trash, doing yard work, to travelling to Kenya, I firmly believe it is an experience that not many people have and UMass gave that to me. It really did make me into a global citizen. There is a saying “yatha pinde, tatha brahmandam” which means, as is the atom, so is the universe. As a member of UMass’ ‘global community’ I feel not just me but all of us perfectly embody this concept. Not only do we bridge the gap between cultures, but we can also help each other grow. College is supposed to be the one place in life where we are expected to grow as people free of judgment and in order to grow one needs to broaden their horizons and come out of their silo and new perspectives such as ours bring about a unique opportunity to discover oneself while gaining an understanding of a different culture and form of life and the college of engineering has given me just that. I leave a better person than I was when I came here and that is more than most people can say."
During his time at UMass, Siddhanth conducted research in the Water & Energy Technology Center, the Peltier Aerosol Lab, and the SMELT Lab. He also completed an internship with Dell Technologies, where he will be working as a Solutions Architect after graduation.
