Facilities Support at the College of Education

Facilities at the College of Education

Information regarding facilities requests related to the College of Education, Furcolo Hall, and Montague House such as door access, keys, room scheduling, custodial services, and non-emergency repairs and cleanup (including minor carpentry, electrical, HVAC, water damage, and plumbing).

Addressing Urgent and Emergency Situations

For urgent building and facilities issues (e.g., stuck in elevator, water leak), contact the UMass Amherst Facilities Solutions Center at 413-545-6401 (available 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.)

For emergencies involving fire, potential loss of life, bodily injury, life-threatening or criminal activity, chemicals or other environmental hazards, do not call the Solutions Center! Call 911 if you are using a campus phone. If you are using a cell or off-campus phone, direct dial 413-545-2121.

For students, faculty, or staff in crisis, refer to UMass Amherst Crisis Resources (aka the "Maroon Folder").

Students in need of urgent financial assistance can apply to the College of Education Student Emergency Fund.

Facilities Requests (non-emergency)

If you have a non emergency facilities request, e.g. issues with heat, stains, furniture moves) please fill out the Furcolo Facilities Form. This central location for all Furcolo related requests allows staff to follow-up on requests efficiently, prevent duplication, and coordinate issues if applicable. If you need followup on a request you submitted, please email EDUC-facilities [at] umass [dot] edu.

Event Planning and Promotion

We encourage you to provide as complete an event description as possible and to add high quality images using the image fields. A complete description and photos help to promote your event and will increase the chance of it being featured on our website and social media.

If you want your event on the college-wide calendar, email the specifics to educ-calendar@umass.edu.

If you have any additional questions, please contact EdTech.

Keys and Door Access to Furcolo Hall and Montague House

Furcolo Hall and Montague House are open weekdays 7:00am - 10pm and for events.  All staff, faculty and graduate students should have access to the Furcolo doors after hours with their UCard.  See below about troubleshooting access if this doesn't work.

Door Swipe Access

All staff, faculty and graduate students should have access to Furcolo doors after hours with their UCard.  If this access does not work and/or you need swipe access to specific rooms, contact EdTech - edtech-ithelp@umass.edu and we will grant you access.

Door Keys

All employees who are assigned office or center space will be issued a key when they are hired.  All keys are picked up at the Physical Plant with an ID.  The department staff can order additional keys or replacement keys as appropriate. All staff who are returning a key must do so in person to the Physical Plant.

Department staff have master keys allowing entry  to any space if a lock out occurs.  Other staff with master keys are located in W101, W109, and W111.  Key return and replacements are handled at the University.

What if I am locked out of my office?

Each Department Administrator and their assistant have keys to open offices in their assigned wings.  If they are not available, someone in W111, W109 or W101 can help you.  If you are after hours, please contact campus police.
