Journals
Four major research journals are housed within the College of Education:
- Equity and Excellence in Education
- The Journal of Special Education Leadership
- Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability
- Practical Assessment, Research, and Evaluation
The college's national and international reputation for the significance of its faculty research is underscored by the continued appointments of our faculty to the editorships of prestigious research journals.
Equity and Excellence in Education (EEE)
Equity & Excellence in Education publishes research articles and scholarly essays that address issues of equity and social justice in education. We consider manuscripts that are theoretically rich and/or empirically grounded; draw on a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives and approaches; and, advance our understanding of school systems, individual schools, classrooms, homes, communities, organizations, technologies, social spaces, processes, and practices attentive to different ways in which students from a range of social group backgrounds are served.
Associate Professor Keisha Green and Assistant Professors Jamila Lyiscott are editors-in-chief.
The Journal of Special Education Leadership (JSEL)
The Journal of Special Education Leadership (JSEL) is a journal of the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children. JSEL is a peer refereed journal dedicated to issues in special education administration, leadership, and policy issues. JSEL directly supports CASE's main objectives, which are to foster research, learning, teaching, and practice in the field of special education administration and leadership and to encourage the extension of that knowledge to other administration and leadership fields. Articles for Journal of Special Education Leadership highlight emerging knowledge, techniques, trends, and issues supported by a growing research base focused on special education leadership and administration.
Professor Mary Lynn Boscardin is editor.
Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability (JPED)
The Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability (JPED) is the flagship journal of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and is dedicated to the advancement of full participation in higher education for persons with disabilities.
This is an exciting collaboration between CSSR and AHEAD, and another way we aim to address postsecondary success for marginalized students - by generating and disseminating state of the art research that will provide evidence to colleges and universities in order to improve education for students with disabilities.
Professor Ryan Wells, director of the Center for Student Success Research (CSSR), is Co-Executive Editor of JPED.
Practical Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (PARE)
Practical Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (PARE) is an online journal providing access to refereed articles that can have a positive impact on assessment, research, and evaluation. Manuscripts published in PARE are scholarly syntheses of research and ideas about methodological issues and practices, and offer unique contributions to the literature. PARE is intended to help members of the community keep up-to-date with effective methods, trends, and research developments from a variety of settings.
PARE is also committed to highlighting research that focuses on equity in assessment and measurement. To that end, we encourage the submission of manuscripts that address issues of equity and fairness – particularly articles that focuses on the assessment experiences and outcomes for historically marginalized populations.
Research Professor April Zenisky and Professor Lisa Keller are co-editors.
