UMassGives Raises More than $1.8 Million in Two-day Fundraising Event

The Annual Giving Office at UMass Amherst reports that this year’s two-day UMassGives fundraising event in April raised more than $1.8 million overall, with over 9,500 individual contributions made.

This year saw a large increase in the number of alumni donors—up 1,100 from 2019—as well as an increase in the number of parent donors—up 103 from 2019. There was also an increase in giving from faculty and staff, which was up $23,000 from 2019, and from students, who increased their giving by $5,000.

The funds raised have made a significant impact across many individual schools, colleges and other university units. For example, the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) raised over $300,000 from more than 500 gifts. By contributing to specific challenges put forth within SBS, donors supported a number of initiatives in legal studies, SBS internships, UMass Women into Leadership and other areas.

Many other schools, colleges and units around campus also saw excellent results from this year’s UMassGives effort. Here are a few highlights:

  • University Without Walls had its best year yet and was able to endow nearly a full scholarship.
  • The UMass Libraries set records with more than 200 donors contributing over $26,000 total, which will go toward providing new and innovative services to the campus community.
  • Transit Services had a successful year and is using the funds to give scholarships to their dedicated group of student workers.
  • Men’s Club Rowing raised $19,000 from 237 gifts, demonstrating the deep connection alumni feel to that group.
  • With over $578,000 raised, Athletics more than doubled its total from the previous UMassGives campaign.
  • The College of Information and Computer Sciences also more than doubled its 2019 total, raising over $22,000 this year.
  • The Fine Arts Center nearly tripled its number of donors from 2019.

The Annual Giving office wishes to thank everyone who donated during this year’s event, as well as everyone who worked behind the scenes to make UMassGives happen.
