The ADVANCE Leadership Team works collaboratively to build and promote knowledge-driven research and solutions for faculty equity on campus. The team spans the research-practice continuum through collaboration between Team Leaders for Research and Team Leaders for Practice.

Team Leaders for Research are social science researchers based in any college or school who conduct studies of faculty equity on our campus, generating scholarly publications and practical tools for institutional change.

Leaders of Research serve a minimum two-year term as core members of the Leadership Team. They design and conduct social science research about faculty equity issues on campus with support from fellow members of the Research team, and partner with Leaders of Practice to promote change at UMass and across higher education institutions. They receive an annual allocation of $6,000 plus additional funds to support research. Continuously appointed or tenured faculty are eligible for this role.

ADVANCE welcomes proposals to explore enduring and emerging drivers of faculty equity, including on topics such as: disability and ableism; gender and sexuality; race, ethnicity and nationality; professional recognition; policy implementation (e.g., on faculty peer mentoring, workload equity planning); and the causes and consequences of faculty retention.

Those interested should submit an application, CV and contact information for two on-campus references, by Monday, May 11.

More information and a link to the application can be found on the ADVANCE website. For questions, email [email protected].
