The AS in landscape contracting in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture is a good choice if you are interested in a career in the “green industries.” You’ll become familiar with the full scope of landscape contracting, including growing, marketing, producing, designing, and maintaining plants, trees, turf, and landscaped areas.

Through the program’s strong emphasis on learning by doing, you’ll gain knowledge in how to survey and how landscape systems work, and you’ll apply this knowledge in your areas of interest in design studios, construction labs, and built projects. You may also choose to participate in the National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC).

In your courses, you’ll develop a foundation around three primary areas: landscape design, horticulture, and landscape construction/business. You’ll also begin networking as a student member of the National Association of Landscape Professionals or the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association.

Our program prepares you to become a crew leader, project supervisor, or estimator, or to work in other managerial positions, while strengthening your design, estimation, installation, and management skills.
