In your study of geology in UMass Amherst’s Department of Earth, Geographic, and Climate Sciences, you’ll examine the systems and forces that have shaped our planet from its earliest moment through the present day. 

You’ll work with exceptional faculty who are conducting research on climate change, arctic science, watershed quality, and so much more.  

You’ll learn about everything from oceanography to mineralogy and petrology across an exciting array of course offerings. And you’ll have the chance to participate in innovative research as you prepare for careers in industry, academia, or government.
