Maia Valcarce

Maia Valcarce joined CNS First Year Advising in August 2024, working primarily with Psychology, Astronomy, Biology, Animal Science, Mathematics/Statistics and Physics students. She also enjoys working with Exploratory Track students to help them learn about different programs at UMass and find the right fit major.

Valcarce comes to UMass Amherst with 11 years of experience working in secondary education as a mathematics and computer science teacher. She uses this perspective to help students navigate the transition from high school into their university life. She holds a BS in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College and an MEd from UMass Amherst and was a National Science Foundation Noyce Fellow at UMass in 2013.
